Your ego-mind isn’t the real you. It’s a group of finite objects, thoughts, sensations, feelings, and perceptions.
The real you is infinite awareness, experiencing a finite world through a finite mind.
When you associate yourself with awareness, you let go of the attachments and suffering of the ego-mind.

Unconditional happiness occurs when there are no attachments to the past or future. And, no resistance to the present moment.
How Do You Practice Mindfulness?
Starting to practice mindfulness doesn’t require the perfect setting to get started.
Mindfulness is something that you can start practicing anytime & anywhere. You just need to be able to focus on the present moment.
It’s important to realize that the goal of mindfulness or meditation, isn’t to destroy the ego-mind as some may claim.
We all have an ego-mind for a reason, it helps us navigate through our current experiences.
It keeps us out of dangerous situations and helps us learn and survive in the world.
When you’re in a state of mindfulness, thoughts will no doubt arise. And, when they do, it’s perfectly normal.
Just acknowledge them, and then simply let them go by placing your attention back on the present moment.
You may also feel sensations in the body which can come in the form of discomfort.
Just simply acknowledge this discomfort, without any attachment. You will notice that when you come back to the present moment, the discomfort won’t affect you.
However, if you focus on resisting the sensation, the suffering returns.
Try to practice letting any discomfort arise without giving any resistance, and just bringing your focus back to the present moment.
Steps To Guide You Through A Mindfulness Session
- Start by finding a quiet place. Once you’ve practiced mindfulness a few times, you can try this in busier environments.
- For beginners, set yourself 10-15 minutes. After a few sessions, you can extend this time as long as you like.
- Start to notice any sensations in your body, notice the rhythm of your breathing.
- Now start to notice your surroundings, become intimately aware of all your external surroundings in the present moment.
- Become aware of the moments when thoughts start to arise. Just observe them without any attachment or focus.
- Make sure you don’t judge any thoughts or sensations which may arise, just simply let them be, and let them go.
That’s all you need to get started. Take your time and extend the sessions slowly, also try different locations.
